CYCLE Carleton Place
I Retired from the Canadian Navy (Electronic Technician) in 2000 and came back to my Home Town.
I have been an avid Cyclist since the early 90's and generally do about 3,000km a year.
My bike is a Specialized, Expedition-Sport that has been extensively modified.
Recently I have added POWER to my bike, Crystalyte's Phoenix system.
I love the Crystalyte system, the support is excellent (www.itselectric.ca - Power in Motion - Calgary).
It also has great add-ons and flexability. (Cruise Control, Brake Cutoff, Cycle Analyst, etc etc)
The Phoenix Motor (version 1) has an input from 36V to a peak of 100V and with my 72V Battery top speed is 64kph and it cruises at 50-55kph no problem. (about 4-41/2 HP)
The Li-ion batteries are from www.evassemble.com in China. I went direct to China as North America could not supply them or a fast charger (10Amp or more). The cost is actually cheaper even with the shipping.
I tried a heavy duty rear rack and it only lasted a year and a half SO.....
I built my own back rack out of 1/4 Steel and it has a trailer hitch, with my trailer (ugraded tires & heavy duty bearings) I can pull well over 100 lbs. All my Dive Gear plus 2 tanks.
Then I built my own panier - RainProof (and side racks out of steel 1/4" & perforated)
The side rack holds my 72V Li-ion or 36V20A SLA batteries (up to about 60lbs of) no problem.
